I offer trauma-informed sports massage.

Anatomically Focused, Holistically Minded

I start each session with a gentle overall rocking warm up to ease your nervous system, connect you with your breath, and help calm anxiety. I then shift to focused work on 1-2 body regions to adequately address the root of your needs. I include moments of softer physical release and gently-guided breathwork throughout the session so your body can remain most receptive to the deeper work, and to help you access and maintain a felt sense of safety in your nervous system. My bodywork is tailored to support injury mitigation + recovery, reducing chronic + acute pain, and increasing mobility, all in a trauma-informed container prioritizing your felt sense of safety.

I also provide recommendations for at-home exercises and stretches tailored to the unique needs of your body to deepen the benefit + integration of the work between sessions. This work might be appropriate for you if you exercise or play sports, have a physical job, have a desk job, spend time wrangling kids, have recurring pain from an old injury, or are generally a busy person.

I do not offer spa-style full body massage.

What does “trauma-informed”mean?

A trauma-informed framework is a client-forward approach that recognizes the lived experience of carrying trauma physically, and prioritizes the client having a felt sense of safety and agency whenever possible. This framework can be applied to any modality of care.
For massage, this includes cues of physical connection to what’s touching the body, gently guided breathwork, and changing the pace and pressure of the work based on communication with the client and felt tissue response. Because sports massage specifically involves physical discomfort, the trauma-informed approach is essential, as being able to maintain a felt sense of safety while navigating physically uncomfortable experiences is a key component to managing trauma.

Unfortunately my office is not wheelchair accessible. There are 15 steps to the main entrance and 6 steps to the side entrance.
